Lower Manhattan from the Edge

“The Edge”is a new outdoor viewing platform, 100 stories high in midtown Manhattan (New York City). You can find this building in Hudson Yards, at the terminus of the Subway #7, right next to the iconic sculpture “The Vessel.”

In the morning with the sun rising over the East River, your best view is to the south: lower Manhattan. The Freedom Tower, the tallest building in the skyline, recently built on the World Trade Center site, dominates the view. In the distance, see the Verrazano Narrows bridge and the entrance to New York harbor. Locals will recognize many details in this tightly packed neighborhood of skyscrapers.

While this day featured a brilliant blue sky, the black and white photograph seemed to me the best way to focus on the shapes and detail of the skyline. This image can be printed as a large print: such as 40″ wide.

A Room With A View*

Before you have ever been to Edinburgh, Scotland, people will tell you, “Edinburgh is a beautiful city.”  You think to yourself, “why does everyone say that?” I wondered if I would come away from my trip saying the exact same words to others. I do.

My simple explanation is that the architecture is beautiful. As you walk the city, you may find yourself pausing to admire architecture right and left. Before we even left our hotel, I was enchanted with this view out our window.

Rain? At the Arts Festival?

It looks like they’re expecting rain at the Pittsburgh Arts Festival. It seems every June, the brave artists sitting in their booths of painting, photography, jewelry, pottery and other crafts have to cope with inclement weather. This week is no exception.

Pittsburgh’s Perfect Day

It was a perfect day to be a tourist in Pittsburgh today. Lots of Pittsburghers strolled through the farmer’s market in Market Square while we enjoyed a family lunch at City Works. The iconic view from Mount Washington never disappoints. The temperature, humidity and the puffy clouds all conspired to create the perfect day, reflected here in the PPG Tower.
